The DHS Priority Telecommunications Services (PTS) has an opening for a Wireless Systems Engineer with VOIP or RF experience on a subcontract on a DHS HQ prime contract. The DHS PTS contract work is performed at the CSRA/GDIT prime contractor site in Falls Church, VA.
Assist in performing network service verification tests (NSVTs) on Wireless Priority Service (WPS) VoLTE vendor Radio Access Network (RAN) solution and the carrier's LTE networks.
The engineer will coordinate with the carrier to develop an agreed-upon test plan, which will document the detailed test procedures to be followed during the NSVT.
Review wireless and wireline service provider test plans for demonstrating that priority communication features in their network components (e.g., Session Border Controllers, Telephony Application Servers) and protocols (e.g., SIP) work and are performing acceptably. Recommend edits to the plan to ensure Government requirements are met
Witness tests based on the test plans and observe results. Schedule and witness retests for tests that fail.
Review wireless and wireline service provider test reports based on the tests to ensure they accurately reflect the tests that were performed.
Candidate should have strong technical skills in telecommunications, networks, analyses, and/or communications engineering.
Candidate needs to have systems engineering experience working with vendors and carriers and dealing with customers.
RF Engineering with strong GSM, CDMA background.
Understanding of SIP, VoLTE and IMS.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
