Job Description:
The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a Sr Network Engineer in Bethesda, MD.
- Provide network administration, security, configuration management, and maintenance of F5 Big-IP, firewalls AWS VPC's, and switching architecture Perform F5 Big-IP to include 200+ virtual servers, 400+ pools and 700+ URL's
- Coordinate and implement F5 Big-IP changes for multiple teams, proactively monitor network equipment, services, and applications
- Troubleshoot network-related issues, isolate and diagnose errors and provide recommendations to optimize network performance and security
- Manage F5 Big-IP iRules, data-groups, persistence concepts and intelligent monitoring
- Maintain Brocade switches, manage SSL certificates and appropriation
- Develop technical documentation and troubleshooting guides
- Collaborate closely with other teams (e.g. Network, Storage, System Administrators, and Database) to provide expert consultation and technical administration for projects, initiatives, and general operations in order to ensure system performance, availability, and security across platforms
- Manage Cisco ASA firewall ACL management and configuration
- Participate in a 24x7 365 days a year on-call rotation
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Networking certifications (F5-CA,F5-CSE, CCNA)
Experience:
8+ years of relevant work experience
Expert knowledge of BIG-IP F5 solution
Expert level experience working in AWS (VPC, VPN Gateways, EC2 Instances, route-tables)
Advanced experience in TCP/IP, IP routing, data center switching and load balancing focusing on Cisco
and Brocade
Advanced experience in infrastructure design related to network, data center and storage equipment
Working knowledge of knowledge of Cisco routing and switching principles
Expert level working knowledge in networking Layer 1 to Layer 3 in OSI model
Experience working with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python or similar dynamic language
Technical writing skills to develop and maintain security documentation
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of Grants Management and Health Care related support activities, processes, and
regulations are preferred
Requires US Citizen or Green Card Holder with the ability to obtain a Public Trust
