Leidos is seeking a qualified Consulting Employee to perform and support various engineering design functions.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with engineers and other designers to support planning and engineering projects
• Conduct project research of existing facilities via client records
• Perform field work to collect information for design and assess as-installed condition of existing facilities
• Draft accurate and detailed conceptual design sketches as well as formal drawing packages, consisting of electrical, communication, structural and civil disciplines, for use in construction of utility power delivery projects
• Prepare construction work packages - issued to utility crews or third-party contractors
• Request and manage client drawings and other records throughout the entire lifecycle of a project
• Perform other project aide/administrative functions
Qualifications:
• Typically requires high school diploma and a minimum of 5+ years of prior relevant experience with electric utility projects
Time Management
• Ability to operate in a fast paced engineering/production environment
• Ability to balance multiple assignments and priorities
Drafting Skills
• Proficient in the use of MicroStation
• Knowledge of drafting principals, techniques and procedures
• Ability to comply with applicable client and company drawing/drafting standards
• Manipulate vector and raster drawing files
• Ability to draft plans and drawings from engineer provided markups
• High level of attention to detail
Document Management and Control
• Proficient in the use of ProjectWise
• Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools
• Highly organized
Computer and Software Skills
• Ability work within Windows 7 (and newer) operating system environments
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software (e.g., Outlook, Word and Excel; PowerPoint and Project is a plus)
• Ability and desire to learn a variety of software packages and databases as required
Communication Skills
• Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment
• Good interpersonal skills - may be in a client facing role and required to work in such a role independently
Other
• Must possess the physical ability to support field work in, at times, rough terrain in order to access more remote project locations
• May require travel to the other islands for day or longer trips as required to support projects
• Must have a valid, current driver's license
