Job Description:

Leidos Corporation is currently under contract with the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to provide HUD Information Technology Services (HITS). Leidos Civil Exploration and Mission Support Group is seeking a college graduate (Computer/System/Software Engineering or Computer Science degree preferred) to provide Software Engineering support to the HITS Data Center and Operations Team as a junior Software Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for learning existing/legacy system architecture, design, functions and capabilities to support the design and implementation of new capabilities and enhancements

Primary Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining servers in a Windows systems environment.

Automate routine tasks and activities via shell scripting, i.e., must be proficient in shell scripting

Assist the Server Team to ensure maximum availability and optimal performance of all servers which includes installation, administration, maintenance, performance tuning and monitoring.

Work with the team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot and support Windows server environment.

Perform other server related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

The candidate must have a good academic understanding and/or exposure to software development practices to contribute to and/or assist with software development and maintenance, system architecture, and system concept development.

The candidate will be expected to develop code in an agile methodology and occasionally participate in software development lifecycle activities.

Education and Experience:

Typically requires BS degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.

Excellent written/verbal skills with the ability to interpret and author well-formed documents.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions

Clearance Requirements

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen willing and able to submit to and obtain a "Public Trust" background investigation.

Desirable Experience:

Windows Active Directory and Visual Basic.
