Job Description:

Leidos has an immediate opening for a SOF & Airborne ISR SME Supporting Innovation at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Candidates must possess a current TS with SCI eligibility in order to be considered. The Innovation Section ISR SME within the 25 IS/LSX will consist of, but would not be limited to, work aiding the Research and Development (R&D) team by advising, constructing, and programing prototypes that utilize Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) technology to bridge the gap between training and real world operations for Direct Support Operators (DSO) and Tactical Systems Operators (TSO).

Duties will include:

- Carry out construction and maintenance tasks associated with the integration of COTS technology into new electronics projects that may include, but would not be limited to, soldering, using a 3D printer, utilizing a laser engraver, coding/programming, and drilling

- Aid in the development of prototypes that would enhance the training environment and alleviate training shortfalls faced by DSOs and TSOs, bringing the training experience closer to real world operations

- Provide technical advice, analysis, and oversight of each prototype design to ensuring the most cost effective technology is incorporated into each prototype and future iteration

- Perform mass production of prototype equipment as designated by flight or squadron leadership

- Provide regular status updates through the development and production of all projects to flight or squadron leadership as required

- Coordinate with outside agencies to ensure implementation of a project is approved for use by, but not limited to, Eglin Range Personnel, FCC, and other military or DoD agencies

- Perform tasks required for the deployment, installation, or setup of each project outside of 25 IS facilities

- Based on evaluations of the support provided during military exercises and other defense related activities, identify deficiencies in project/prototype planning and performance, provide recommendations for resolution, and coordinate the activities necessary to better achieve identified goals for mission support

- Other duties would include typical staff work and require the application of analytical and problem solving techniques

- Preparation and presentation of briefings, reports, analysis, and recommendations to assist in the formulation of decisions regarding long and short-range program planning and execution


- Knowledge of DoD, joint military, OSHA, and AF practices and procedures, along with regulations and laws applicable to the full range of maintenance, networking, and communication technologies in use by the 25 IS

- Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of each project/program, as well as identifying trends and recommending changes

- Knowledge and understanding of logistics functions and their operational needs with a practical knowledge of computerized systems' applications and of equipment techniques, capabilities, and limitations sufficient to assure the proper relationship between functional users and automated data processing systems


- The candidate must have a thorough understanding of the 25 IS mission and AFSOC operations, or have a background that would enable them to learn the material quickly

- 8 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or technical environment

- Must have the ability to work independently and function as part of a dynamic team

- Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing within the 25 IS and to other outside organizations

- Must have proficiency using Microsoft Office

- Show proficiency in advanced maintenance and engineering techniques to include, but not limited to soldering, cable fabrication, multi-pin connector fabrication, and prototype design/blue-printing

- Show proficiency in computer programming to include, but not limited to, Linux, Python, and HTML

- Must have a current TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
