The NISC III Program at Leidos currently has an opening for a Project Engineer to work in out Des Moines, WA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC III Fuel Storage Tank Program mission. Coordinates planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Plans and formulates engineering program; reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and drawing releases. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
- The FSS Project Engineer is a technical expert in the design and operation of FAA Fuel Storage Tanks (FST).
- Provides technical and professional assistance to the FAA FST National Program Office (NPO) in areas of storage tank regulatory compliance and operations as coordinated through the Service Area FST Project Implementation Manager (PIM).
- Supports FAA Projects involving propane, diesel, gasoline, and waste oil AST and UST systems, inclusive of all piping and controls.
- Performs operational and compliance validation and evaluations of fielded and planned systems in support of FST NPO initiatives throughout the geographic area.
- Directs implementation of FAA FST modifications and actions as coordinated through the PIM.
- Provides plant engineering recommendations and prepares engineering designs to assure fuel systems meet National Airspace System (NAS) operational standards.
- Provides subject matter expertise regarding configuration, component selection and placement, and risk mitigation for operation of tank systems.
- Prepares and maintains documentation supporting system designs, specifications, procedures, drawings and project manuals.
- BA degree and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust FAA Clearance.
- Works under very general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy.
- Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
- Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
- Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
