At Leidos, we use Python, Puppet, Kubernetes, and the AWS stack to build actual software that people both pay for and willingly use. If you're an up-and-coming systems administrator, particularly one interested in branching out into automation work, this is the role for you. While we have experienced dev-ops staff with strong sys-ad backgrounds, we're growing rapidly and need more infrastructure engineering talent.
Our staff is housed in a safe and welcoming habitat with infinite espresso, fancy ramen, and Atlassian tools. Experience the joy and frustration of Puppet! Get the hardware you ask for! Eat unlimited fruit snacks! Come work with the best team in Charlottesville. Maybe write some Python.
This job has two major focus areas. The first is the operation, improvement and upkeep of the bare-metal hardware ranging from racks, to laptops, to switches. This represents about half of the work, spiking during peak hiring. The other half of the role's responsibilities centers on the automation of system provisioning and the transition away from bare-metal. Our dedication to security places great constraints on the development environment. You will be called upon to participate in and support exploration of new and innovative engineering approaches while always maintaining enterprise security. This job requires attention to detail, ongoing outreach with development and maintenance of contacts throughout the enterprise and proven ability to work with teams to deliver a vibrant engineering environment.
