Job Description:

Help us support the Missile Defense Agency in the design, construction, and testing of electro-optical/infrared satellite systems, which include advanced on-orbit processing electronics. This is a highly dynamic and integrative environment in which talented and creative engineers can thrive as they interact with a diverse array of multidisciplinary engineers. We are seeking a highly motivated engineer skilled at electrical engineering.

Fun stuff you will do on the job:
- Manage a team of electrical engineers through all phases of spacecraft electronics hardware development, from systems requirements, through PDR and CDR, integration, and test.
- Work with focal plane drive electronics, FPGA processing boards, power systems, DSP boards, PCI & VPX busses, stepper motor controllers, health and status circuits, cryocoolers, and spacecraft data interfaces
- Guide and educate electrical engineers in the unique aspects of spacecraft payload design including thermal management, vibration hardening, radiation susceptibility, reliability prediction, material procurement, electronic component selection, EMI/EMC, and process documentation
- Provide expertise in analog and digital circuits design, and signal integrity analysis
- Lead requirements definition, schematic capture, board layout, board fabrication and assembly, board test, electro-optical testing, and system integration.
- Perform testing, characterization, and analysis of electro-optical/infrared systems
- Collaborate with signal processing experts, software leads, and FPGA designers
- Produce reports, presentations, and participate in working groups

Skills you need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least 10+ years of related experience
- US citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance
- Experience with designing electronics for spacecraft
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, and signal integrity
- Experience with OrCAD
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience working with cross functional teams developing embedded hardware
- Demonstrated leadership of small technical teams
- Motivated self-starter able to work under minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to generate and follow schedules

You will wow us even more if you have these skills:
- Experience with FPGA hardware, and VHDL or Verilog
- Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Kintex Ultrascale, and Actel RTG4
- Experience with Hyperlynx
- Experience with/interest in electro-optical and infrared system performance
- Experience with adaptive signal processing
- Experience implementing interfaces such as Ethernet, Spacewire, GigE Vision, and CameraLink
- Experience with PADS, Hyperlynx, and Microsoft Project
- Experience with embedded C and RTOS
