Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a Chief Systems Engineer to help shape our technical workforce, build our technical capabilities, and drive technical insertion on a specific DoD program, to improve program performance, grow our business, and establish our Operational team as a premier solution leader for our customers. The Chief Engineer must have a broad understanding of evolving technical trends, be able to recommend activities to position us to take advantage of those trends, and be creative in applying trends to meet our customers' mission requirements.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Identify technical SMEs in developing, shaping and delivering technical solutions.
• Solutions must be focused to improve program performance, provide thought leadership.
• Individual must also be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of related technologies to include, but not limited to the following: Client server technologies (e.g., MS Windows, Office, SharePoint, Active directory etc.), systems servers and storage area networking ,virtualization, VDI, LAN/WAN routing and switching (e.g., CISCO), COMSEC, networking technologies using OSPF, IPSEC, MPLS, VPLS, datacenter switching routing, and firewalls. Management and Information Security platforms (e.g., Solarwinds, What's Up Gold, SCOM, and SCCM, SPLUNK, QRadar, and Nessus). Cloud computing services and implementation.
• Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
• Design, implement and manage high availability/clustering and disaster recovery environment.
• Supports establishment of plans and templates in line with the overall technical architecture format and program infrastructure platform.
• Reviews and approves technical documentation to design, test, implement, train, and transition solutions to operational support
• Plans, manages time according to schedules, and provide timely status updates
• Supervises the deployment and use of tools and resolves issues using all available resources. Other application experience includes: Server Operating Systems (e.g. Windows 2016 and /or Linux. ); IT Infrastructure Technologies (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, Identity and Access Management); Desktop Operating Systems (e.g. Windows 10); Virtualization Technologies (e.g. VMware and HyperV); Storage Architectures and Technologies (e.g. NetApp); Traditional Client Server and AWS architectures; Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI and Citrix); IT Tools expertise (e.g. Splunk, ServiceNow); Collaboration Technologies (e.g. Exchange, Skype); Software Development Frameworks and Tools (e.g. DevOps, Jira); Scripting and automation technologies (e.g. PowerShell). Design, implement and manage high availability/clustering and disaster recovery environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a current TS/SCI with a poly to be considered

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related STEM technical discipline plus 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills. - Hands-on experience.
• Work in a high business tempo environment that spans many LAN/WAN technology discipline.
• Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
• Plans, manages time according to schedules, and provide timely status updates.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MCSE/MCITP Certifications; Other IT related certifications
• AWS / Cloud experience is a plus
• Prior DoD Civilian or Military service desired.
