***THIS POSITION IS IN AFGHANISTAN AND OFFERS A ROTATIONAL SCHEDULE***

Leidos is seeking a MI-17 Instructor Pilot that will be providing ground and in-flight training/instruction to the host nation Rated Crewmembers (RCM). This is an MI-17 aircrew training program. All training will be conducted to U.S. Army standards and operations will be limited to training within the scope of the contract. The candidate will work and travel in between customer sites as needed. Customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. The MI-17 Instructor Pilot will be required to travel, live and work in austere and hostile conditions throughout assigned areas in Afghanistan and will be required to wear approximately 35 lbs. of body armor and aviation life support equipment during the performance of flying duties.

The candidate must have past or current FAA or FAA equivalent designation as a Pilot/Aircraft Commander in the applicable aircraft and have 1000 hours of experience in performing duties for operational, ferry, and support flights. Must possess a military medical or FAA Class II certificate and be able to meet applicable physical and physiological minimum requirements for the applicable aircraft. A rated aviator who performs pilot duties as pilot in command or copilot for airplanes and/or helicopters. Flight duties may include ferry flight, training, maintenance support or a variety of missions.

Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to):
- Conduct to published standards, Day, Night Vision Goggle (NVG), and Instrument flight training to host nation, NATO and contractor rated crew members IAW contract Performance Work Statement, DCMA 8210, applicable local regulations, and service guidance
- Prepare flight crews for sustained Afghan autonomous NVG multi-ship Air Assault operations in desert and urban environments
- Work closely with flight students in classroom, Mi-17 flight simulator, and Mi-17 helicopter settings
- Instruct tactical flight packet and map generation
- Instruct / implement standard operating procedures in support of assigned training and operational missions
- Assist in the development of courseware, as required
- Perform duties as an Instructor Pilot, Pilot-in-Command, Air Mission Commander, Flight Lead, and Pilot under day and NVG conditions in a tactical environment
- Additional tasks may also be required to be performed as assigned by the lead pilot and company management

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience; additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Rotorcraft)
DoD Pilot Training Certificate
DoD Transition School for MI-17 (or FAA/EASA/ICAO approved flight training and certification)
Minimum 1000 hours Pilot-in-Command Time (300 hours Multi-Engine Helicopter)
Minimum 200 hours Instructor Pilot time
Graduate of U.S. Military Instructor Pilot Course or Method of Instruction course
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
Must have an active NACI clearance with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Ability to work well with peers in stressful conditions and close living quarters
Copies of all relevant certifications will be required

As the position location is in Afghanistan, the following requirements need to be met:
US Citizen
Must be able to pass/qualify all CENTCOM CRC medical and training requirements
Active passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiration prior to start date
Visa with multiple entries for 12 months prior to start date
Completion of Customer required International Readiness Certifications prior to deployment
Failure to complete any of these actions within 60 days of accept will result in rescinding of the offer If the candidate is unable to pass the medical screening after the start date and prior to deployment an immediate administrative termination will be requested.

Desired Experience:
2500 hours turbine rotary wing
1000 hours NVG experience
1000 hours of Instructor Pilot experience
U.S. Military Instructor Pilot with tactical air assault experience
Previous experience in Afghanistan
Previous experience instructing foreign rated crew members or student pilots
