In this mission we support the US Army, Program Executive Office Enterprise Information System (PEO EIS) Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS) in maintaining and expanding the technological infrastructure, the largest in the world, which provides in-transit tracking of military cargo as it moves through the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
The TAV In-transit Processing Station - Write (TIPS-Write) software is part of the Total Asset Visibility (TAV) system that uses radio frequency (RF) tag technology to track military cargo and equipment.
The objective of TIPS-Write is to provide a system that warfighters/soldiers and Field Service Engineers (FSEs) can use to gather variously formatted shipment data.
They then write this data to an RF Tag that will be attached to a shipment and make this data available to a regional server to assure tracking of the shipment.
The TAV In-transit Processing Station - Read (TIPS-Read) software is part of the In-transit Visibility (ITV) system that uses radio frequency (RF) tag technology to track military cargo and equipment.
The objective of the TIPS software is to provide a system that the soldier can use to gather variously formatted shipment data, write this data to an RF tag which will be attached to a shipment, and then make this data available to an RF-ITV server so the shipment can be tracked.
TIPS-Read stations are set up at various "choke points" along the path of these tagged shipments to read the tag IDs and send them to the RF-ITV server for tracking purposes.
The main functions include configuring TIPS-Write to communicate with RFID devices (Readers or USB cables).
Configuring TIPS-Write to communicate with a regional server.
Reading and importing shipment data from various formatted data sources.
Accepting shipment data manually from the user via data entry forms.
writing and reading shipment data to and from an RF Tag; uploading shipment data to a regional server.
Verifying that data has been uploaded to the designated server.
Data written to the tag by the depot soldier supports both the shipper and the receiver.
By providing local and immediate access to manifest and supply data, the RF Tag allows the soldier in the field to quickly and reliably identify and locate supplies and equipment without access to specialized equipment.
The two main functions of TIPS-Read are to use RFID tag readers to read tag IDs attached to shipments and to transfer this tag ID data to an RF-ITV server.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors' Degree with 8-12 years of applicable experience or additional relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor's or
Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
Active Secret Clearance
Must be US Citizen.
Minimum 8 years' software development experience, including recent relevant experience in Web development using Java programming language.
Strong design and debugging skills.
Knowledge of object-oriented programming methods.
Familiar with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
Ability to develop software compliant with industry standard practices.
Able to decompose high-level requirements into designs.
