Job Description:

Leidos has a career opening for a Communications Manager located in Reston, VA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The job of the Communications Manager is to support strategic communications initiatives that effectively position Leidos as a thought leader and respected corporate citizen in core markets. This ideal candidate is knowledgeable about federal government contracting, is a rapid and thoughtful writer, and has experience interacting with executive leadership. This is an individual contributor position that requires a senior communications professional with the ability to work independently on highly complex or greenfield projects with a range of deadlines. Creativity is encouraged, particularly on greenfield projects that promote the enterprise or key capabilities areas.

While the candidate will often work independently, he or she must work well with other communications functional areas including internal communications, branding, marketing/tradeshows, digital, creative, corporate events, and community relations. The position has the same reporting structure as media relations and prior experience working in that field or in public relations is a plus. The individual must have experience and be comfortable writing for and presenting to executive leadership.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Collaborate with stakeholders to ideate, design and implement proactive enterprise campaigns

-Research, organize, write, edit, publish, and present content for enterprise campaigns

-Prepare remarks and talking points for executive speaking engagements

-Research, write, and edit nomination materials

-Interact with key internal contacts frequently to gather and catalog data for use in campaigns or projects

-Support media and public relations activities as needed

-Develop and maintain relationships with key business leaders, subject matter experts, vendors and outside agencies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelors degree (preferably in Business Administration, Communications, English or Journalism) with 8 years of communications experience, with evidence of increasing responsibility

-Knowledge of federal contracting

-Demonstrated interaction with executive leadership

-Excellent presentation, public speaking and written communication skills

-Demonstrated expertise in the planning and execution of proactive communication campaigns for large, complex organizations that engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Strong executive communications, media relations and/or public relations background is a plus
