Job Description:

Leidos is executing multiple contracts under which we are developing advanced optical communication systems for maritime applications. This position will support the Program Manager in the day-to-day oversight of the projects to coordinate within the executing engineering and functional support teams. The position includes evaluating team and contract performance, taking proactive steps to address emergent issues, coordinate closely with the Program Manager to allocate effort within the technical team as well as specific project management functions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assess task requirements across programs and provide recommendations for prioritization of effort and utilization of resources
  • Coordinate with task leads and performing engineering and functional staff to meet task cost, schedule, and technical requirements
  • Prepare internal review documentation for approval by the Program Manager and participate in management reviews
  • Contribute to external review documentation for approval by the Program Manager and participate in customer reviews
  • Coordinate with Finance and Project Control staff to produce and review financial status information and identify potential areas of concern and opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Subcontracts, and Procurement staff to develop and implement strategies to improve communication and management of the extended program team
  • Coordinate with the Project Scheduler to ensure accurate baselines are established and maintained
  • Support developing CDRL documentation and other required contract documentation

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering field (mechanical, electrical, optical preferred) and a minimum of 12 years of experience managing or leading substantive projects or tasks of teams of 10-15 personnel or Master's degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as part of engineering teams
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, integration, and test of systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Project, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, integration, and test of complex electro-mechanical-optical systems
  • Experience in developing systems for harsh maritime and airborne environments
