Job Description:

Leidos is seeking several Cultural Resources Curation Specialists at Eglin AFB, Florida.

The Curation Specialists will be pro-active and innovative professionals that are proficient in museology and curation tasks, to support the Cultural Resources Program in a curation facility with approximately 1,700 cubic feet of artifacts and 700 linear feet of documents.

This position is responsible for proper curation of recovered archaeological collections and material including the proper maintenance and rehabilitation of collections to museum standards (e.g., packaging, labels, and storage containers.).

The Specialist will assess curation repository to verify fully compliant with the standards of 36 CFR 79, and report results to the Cultural Resource Manager; shall coordinate research and other professional access to curated material, as required by the installation Cultural Resources Program Manager.

Daily duties may include:

Developing, designing, and maintaining cultural resources interpretive displays for the education of the public and installation officials.

Scheduling, preparing materials for, and conducting cultural resources training for base personnel such as facility managers, unit environmental coordinators, residents, etc., at supported installations. Approximately 4 classes would be prepared and conducted annually.

Providing data and information sufficient to complete accurate and timely response to Air Force data calls or taskers involving archaeological collections.

Maintaining a schedule showing planned activities and progress for curation.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise regarding curation tasks and working with base personnel and contractors to work on accession of materials collected from multiple AFB bases. This position works onsite at Eglin AFB and requires robust coordination and communication with the government Base Historic Preservation Officer, Cultural Resource Managers, other base personnel and contractors.

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Travel Requirements: Local travel only, 10 percent or less

Required skills:

Air Force/DOD, museum and curation experience (at least 2 years).

Experience with Cultural Resources and related data, and the Eglin Cultural Resource Information Management System (CRIMS).

Familiarity with Air Force and Eglin AFB computer systems.

Ability to work on a multi-discipline team with government employees and contractors and conduct duties with minimal daily direct oversight.
