Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Network Management / Information Technology (IT) Specialist II to work in our Huntsville, AL area.   


Roles and Responsibilities:
Design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation of classified and unclassified ARC Program systems and networks and associated equipment, devices, and software IAW applicable MDA and DoD guidance, instructions, procedures and processes.  The Network Specialist will be the primary focal point for the engineering expertise needed to architect and develop/implement network solutions that are unique to the test environment in which they are operating.  A successful candidate will work independently to identify the significant impacts on operations that proposed solutions will entail, communicate with other project specialties, coordinate and participate in end user meetings to define and defend the schedule and performance liabilities/benefits, and implement the system according to their plan.  As this is a research environment, the candidate should not assume that all solutions will be routine, and it is expected that a high level of creativity and deep technical understanding will be necessary to resolve the unclear issues and capabilities that may initially be ambiguous and conflicting.  Candidates should expect their inputs will drive not only network architecture but also have a direct and substantial impact on the procurement and installation of needed hardware and networking software.  A successful candidate will be able to defend their decisions and recommendations to the decision authorities who will authorize all expenditures from Government funding.


Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

  • BS in related area with related network certifications
  • 4 - 8 years relevant experience. 
  • Current Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Familiarity with US Missile Defense Agency systems.
  • Experience in network infrastructure in a military or Government facility in a classified environment 
  • Experience in Operating System and SW application installation and operation (Linux and Windows). 
  • Familiarity with Virtualization, particularly VMware/Vsphere.
