Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Principal Finance and Business Operation Analyst to work in our Reston, VA headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity for a solution-oriented, motivated, self-starter and leader to contribute to the growth of the business; inject operational efficiencies; provide in-depth, value-added analysis to drive business investment decisions; and, be a positive change agent. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform financial modeling and analysis to identify trends and patterns and generate meaningful insights
  • Interact frequently with executive management and lead or participate in key initiatives including process improvements, business case development, and international business
  • Responsible for a wide-range of topics that require collaboration and ability to gain stakeholder engagement across the enterprise
  • Serve as the primary liaison with technical accounting
  • Serve as a strategic finance business partner to the Defense Group business development team to produce reports and deliverables for monthly and quarterly operations reviews, forecasts, and AOP; lead budget planning; support financial modeling initiatives, including M&A valuations and ROI analysis; participate in Bid Approval Reviews (BAR); and, drive initiatives to maximize backlog.
  • Responsible for balance sheet planning and driving cash performance
  • Partner with Corporate Senior Manager of Program Financial Control on training development and PFC coaching and mentoring initiatives
  • Research and resolve complex financial matters
  • Lead Annual Organizational Realignment (AOR) efforts
  • Support Annual Operating Plan and forecasting

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related business major and minimum 12 years of relevant experience, including several years of progressive experience in program finance, revenue recognition, pricing, FP&A, or financial management of large programs or organizations or a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Strong understanding of financial processes and systems, strong communication skills (written and oral), strong analytic skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change
  • Strong desire to foster employee skills in collaboration and problem solving
  • Strong desire to mentor junior and mid-level financial analysts
  • Strong accounting and balance sheet acumen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong command of cost accounting and revenue recognition practices and policies
  • Ability to thoroughly review EACs for accuracy and compliance
  • Pricing strategy lead for large capture opportunities
  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA or CPA), or willingness to pursue advanced degree
  • Proficient in Program Finance process, practices and policies
  • Familiar with indirect cost structures, Service centers, Costpoint, LPAS
  • Proficient in developing various financial and baseline models
  • Solid understanding of all types of proposal types
  • Effect cash management talents including driving tough situations to a favorable outcome
  • Oracle Business Insights or similar database and visualization tools
