***THIS POSITION IS IN AFGHANISTAN AND OFFERS A 90/30 ROTATIONAL SCHEDULE***
Leidos is currently seeking a MD-530 Avionics Technician to support the AAF MD-530F fleet of aircraft. The Avionics Technician will work and travel in between customer sites as needed. Customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. The Avionics Technician will troubleshoot, inspect, repair and test aircraft avionics systems that perform communications, navigation, radar systems, collision avoidance and flight control functions.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Removes or relocates electrical and electronic components and wiring to facilitate the installation of new electric/electronic equipment.
Research, provide bill of material, fabricate/modify and install wire harness assemblies to support aging aircraft inspection and refurbishment program.
Performs and/or assists with some duties associated with other trades. The level of skill, knowledge, and responsibility associated with other trades varies but is not intended to surpass the grade assigned to the positions.
You will be required to travel, live and work in austere and hostile conditions throughout assigned areas in Afghanistan and may be required to wear approximately 35 lbs. of body armor equipment during duties.
High school diploma or GED and appropriate EASA/ICAO or FAA license/certification. Verifiable certificates/education should be noted on resume. Copies of valid certifications required
Eight (8) years of experience in aircraft electronics installation, troubleshooting and repair
Candidate must have an active Secret clearance
Must have ability to read, understand, and apply trade or administrative guides such as technical manuals, technical orders, standard repairs, blueprints, wiring, diagrams, sketches, and other related documentation
Possess a full understanding of US DoD military aviation maintenance operations
Ability to work in a team environment
As the position location is in Afghanistan, the following requirements need to be met:
Active passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiration prior to start date
Visa with multiple entries for 12 months prior to start date
Possess a valid state driver's license
Completion of Customer required International Readiness Certifications prior to deployment.
Failure to complete any of these actions within 60 days of accept will result in rescinding of the offer. If the candidate is unable to pass the medical screening after the start date and prior to deployment an immediate administrative termination will be requested.
Work experience in austere environments such as Afghanistan
Basic computer skills
Strong professional interpersonal skills
Military deployment experience is highly desired and deployment experience to the CENTCOM region is desired
