***THIS POSITION IS IN AFGHANISTAN AND OFFERS A 90/30 ROTATIONAL SCHEDULE***
Leidos is currently seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to support the MD-530 in Afghanistan. The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic will work and travel in between customer sites as needed. Customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
Advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspects and approves completed maintenance actions, solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics and technical publications
Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records and document maintenance actions
Analyzes, diagnoses and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers and hand tools
Maintains external fuel and grounding systems, performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE; inspects, tests and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air
Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment and technical publications
Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components; removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles and reinstalls GSE components and accessories
Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications
Stores, handles, labels, uses and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local and federal environmental standards and regulations
Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment and operates, cleans, inspects and services GSE towing vehicles
In addition to maintaining vehicle records, this mechanic maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times
You will be required to travel, live and work in austere and hostile conditions throughout assigned areas in Afghanistan and may be required to wear approximately 35 lbs. of body armor equipment during duties.
High school diploma required. Technical or Military School Training desired. Completion of initial and annual Part 139 training (or EASA/ICAO equivalent)
2 years of related experience
Candidate should have well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Candidate must have an active NACI with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Possess a full understanding of US DoD military aviation maintenance operations
Ability to work in a team environment
As the position location is in Afghanistan, the following requirements need to be met:
Active passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiration prior to start date
Visa with multiple entries for 12 months prior to start date
Possess a valid state driver's license
Completion of Customer required International Readiness Certifications prior to deployment.
Failure to complete any of these actions within 60 days of accept will result in rescinding of the offer. If the candidate is unable to pass the medical screening after the start date and prior to deployment an immediate administrative termination will be requested.
Work experience in austere environments such as Afghanistan
Basic computer skills
Strong professional interpersonal skills
Military deployment experience is highly desired and deployment experience to the CENTCOM region is desired
