Job Description:

The Defense group at Leidos has an immediate opportunity for a Data Migration Engineering Lead for the GSM-O DISA Storefront Project who is proficient in classified programs and migrations and is willing to join a team responsible for transforming the order entry and management process for DISA. The location is at DISA HQ at Fort Meade, MD or DISA Global at Scott AFB, IL.


The Data Migration Engineering Lead will lead the data migration activities of the DISA Storefront Classified project. The candidate will be responsible for the development of the data staging environment, development of data scripts that comply with the data mapping requirements, and the execution of the data migration from a Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) application to a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) application(s). The Data Migration Engineering Lead will lead the development and troubleshooting necessary to complete multiple data cycles as required to properly transfer the required data to the sources systems. The individual will work with the Systems Engineering Lead in the analysis of the data requirements, develop, and implement a solution to satisfy long and short term Government requirements. They will provide technical guidance and assistance to the Government, prepare both program/system-level and user-level documentation as required.

The position will be located at either DISA HQ at Fort Meade, MD or DISA Global at Scott AFB, IL.

  • Ability to work with a virtual team and work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact to operational results or project deliverables
  • Ability to create and execute a data migration strategy and implementation plan that complies with an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
  • Ability to work independently to achieve day-to-day data migration objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables and create realistic schedules and execute to them
  • Ability to execute the data migration technical objectives and engage with PMO, functional SME's, and technical SME's as necessary to achieve the schedule objectives.
  • Ability to identify gaps and communicate issues and solutions to those issues to achieve a successful migration.

  • Requires BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
  • Minimum of 5-8+ years of experience on software development projects that include Java programming, Language to access Cassandra (Ruby preferably), Cassandra and CQL, Oracle and SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, RHEL 7.0
  • Minimum of 5-8+ years of experience with scripting languages (e.g., python, bash, sed, awk)
  • Ability to work with functional SME's on data modeling and mapping to include traditional as well as Cassandra specific data modeling skills
  • Proven ability to migrate data from custom applications with varying data quality issues
  • Proven ability to develop data cleansing techniques, routines, and metrics
  • Ability to design and implement a Data Warehouse and load into an existing OLTP System.
  • Experience with Extraction, Transformation, and Load Design and Implementation
  • Experience with distributed version control software such as git or mercurial
  • Must be able to travel regularly to the Fort Meade customer site to support high-side classified development, stakeholder meetings, and troubleshooting.
  • Additional related years of experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Seasoned technical individual contributor with extensive experience with software and system integrations.
  • Currently possess an active 8570 IAT I/II Certification.
  • Must be able to travel regularly to the Fort Meade customer site to support high-side classified development, stakeholder meetings, and troubleshooting.
  • Currently possess an active Secret with SSBI eligibility or Top Secret security clearance.

  • Experience in Continuous Development/ Continuous Integration (CD / CI) environments
  • Experience with BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Artifactory
