Successful candidate will lead a team of AFSS Telecommunication Engineers in the design and deployment of a new digital communication systems for the Flight Service program. Candidate must have solid telecommunications management and technical background and prior leadership skills in managing a team of technical professionals through the lifecycle of design, testing, implementation and support of the new AFSS Telecommunication architecture.
CE Lead candidate will provides technical analysis in Telecommunications network planning, engineering, design and support for a 24 x 7 x 365 FAA Flight Service General Aviation infrastructure. Provides analysis for implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to Telecommunications network problems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of Telecommunications networking and Telephony hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as Channel Banks, DNX Panels, Digital PBX systems, DS0/DS1, Analog/Digital Test Equipment.
Responsible for documenting the team progress through project schedules, progress charts, team meetings, technical discussions, white paper creation, development of support and test procedures, and overall management of the project.
Candidate must have solid background in the design and support of Telecommunication networks and the various hardware solutions employed as well as associated Telecommunications test equipment to ensure all aspects of the Telecommunication Project are identified and documented, risks are identified and mitigated, and implementation plans are developed and executed with success.
Statement of Work for Telecommunications CE Lead
• Provides technical direction to the AFSS Telecommunications Team
• Focus Team efforts on the joint customer/contractor Telecommunication Project
• Ensure all aspects of the Telecommunication Project are documented
• Develops Team schedule(s) to ensure work efforts are captured and milestones are managed to completion
• Ensures the greater Telecommunication Team is ready to;
o Provide daily operational support to existing Nationwide Telecommunications network
o Provide assistance to ongoing research and development of new telecommunications systems
o Perform coordinated testing of out of service equipment (Voice Frequencies, G/G Circuits, DS0/DS1/DS3 Transport circuits
o Perform configurations changes to accommodate ongoing system upgrades on Telecommunication equipment (Channel Banks, DNX Panels, and Digital PBX systems
o Analyze new software configurations from PBX Vendors in LAB environment
o Teamwork with other Telecommunication engineers to research and develop/deploy new Telecommunication technologies into production environments
o Utilize existing Sunrise and GL Communications test equipment to identify, isolate, and return to service any identified circuit outages.
Typically requires Bachelors of Science degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
Digital Voice Communication Equipment implementation and support experience and associated management / leadership skills associated with leading a Telecommunication Engineering team.

7+ Years of solid diverse Telecommunication support to enterprise networks.
Generally M-F, 8 Hour Shift, 40 Hours per week
Be able to support emergency & off Hours Support
