To our valued Leidos candidates:

Coronavirus is on everyone's mind with the effects being felt around the world. The markets are volatile, and we're all concerned for the health and safety of our families, friends, and colleagues. Please know that we're taking all necessary measures to safeguard our employees, customers and the communities in which we live, including following all recommended best practices around social distancing.

With that in mind, in an abundance of caution, we are canceling all face to face career events, such as job fairs and open house events. In the coming days and weeks, we will be hosting career events virtually, using our online chat tools so that we may continue our hiring practice safely and securely. You can find available virtual career events at

We are using telephone meetings and online chats via Brazen to conduct interviews and hiring discussions, and we are offering options for video interviews so that you can have a virtual face to face meeting with your potential new leader. We do not conduct interviews or extend offers via text or chat based social media, such as WhatsApp or MySpace.

Leidos will never ask you to provide payment-related information at any part of the employment application process, nor will Leidos ever advance money as part of the hiring process. And Leidos will communicate with you only through emails that are generated by automated system. If you receive an email purporting to be from Leidos that asks for payment-related information or any other personal information, please report the email to Chris Scalia, Leidos’ Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition, at [email protected].

As a company, as a country, as a world, we have confronted challenging moments before. We are confident that, guided by our values and the strength of our community as well as the commitment we have to the important work we do each day, we will find our way through this time together. We will do this with the care and concern for one another and the common good that defines. Please keep those impacted by the virus in your thoughts.

Job Requisition:

Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description:

At Leidos, everything we do is built on our commitment to do the right thing for our customers, our employees, and our communities. Learn more about the values and culture that are the foundations of our business. Our mission is to make the world safer, healthier, and more efficient through information technology, engineering, and science.

The Charlottesville, VA Leidos team works on everything from autonomous rescue ships to patient care improvements in hospitals. We are expanding our team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) as we build out reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for massively scalable systems. Our technology stack centers on Python for scripting and Terraform for configuration management. This team of engineers are housed in a welcoming and collaborative habitat with infinite espresso, fancy ramen, and Atlassian tools. Engineers on our SRE team can expect to make heavy use of Terraform, Python, AWS Lambda, and Docker.
Aside from the ground-breaking work, we offer competitive salaries comprehensive benefits, and education reimbursement program. Relocation assistance is available for this role – join us in Charlottesville! Our average commute is 8 minutes, and our office is walking distance to more than thirty restaurants. A quick hop away from the Appalachian Trail, Charlottesville is regularly voted one of the happiest cities in America. Come make the best of our cyberpunk future in a city of old brick, verdant greenery, and polished glass.

We follow the Google SRE Handbook – found at – with a particular focus on “Eliminating Toil.” As a Site Reliability Engineer on the Charlottesville SRE team, you’ll be building the expressive automation that makes it possible to deploy our software into hospitals and onto robotic ships. SREs are a key part of our early work triage process and have a direct say if a body of work will be taken on. Our SREs are responsible for the management of risk in customer systems, and are invested with the power and authority to execute. We only ask our engineers to accept that some amount of failure is inevitable and take the necessary risks to deliver. We’ll have your back.

Maintain and extend existing Terraform modules in internal Git repositories to support CI/CD pipelines
Build system metrics over internal and customer deployments of our software with Graphite or comparable tools
Use Python and AWS Lambdas to help teams eliminate serverful design and master their infrastructure
Design, implement, and own test-driven development tooling in elastically provisioned environments
Develop and commit back security and scalability improvements to the open source community
Design and implement reusable Terraform modules for teams working with Azure and AWS

Additional years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Prior experience with Terraform+Ansible or comparable tooling
Professional or hobbyist experience with Docker or AWS ECS
