Job Description:

The Defense group at Leidos is currently seeking a Project Manager to join their team in Ft. Belvoir, VA.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and we are seeking two Project/Program Managers. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Influences development of solutions that affect strategic project goals and business results. Recommends and implements new solutions, processes, policies, standards in support of functions strategy and operations.
  • Problems are complex and typically affect multiple area or disciplines. Provides measurable input to new solutions, processes or standards in order to achieve functional/project objectives. 
  • Requires ability to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project.  Works to convince others to accept areas view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches.
  • Ability to lead a team as well as manage them.  To inspire others, set the vision and lead effectively.
  • Requires good negotiation skills to resolve conflicts by finding the win-win scenarios for everyone.
  • Capable of delivering project within cost constraints and by managing the project finances intelligently.
  • Able to control risk, manage risk, and not let risks become surprises. 
  • Actively manage procurements from beginning to end.
  • Ability to make good decisions and to weigh the pros and cons of solutions to problems before choosing the right way forward. 
  • Ability to think creatively about communication channels that are available and applying those to the project.
  • Having the ability to do project recovery, which includes turning around a poorly performing team and/or project.
  • Effective at managing in a matrixed environment but also that you are good at coaching. 
  • Ability to create a task list, delegate work to others and keep on top of progress. 
  • Ensuring quality is delivered as a product for each project that is assigned.
  • Has expert knowledge of industry practices, advanced techniques and solutions within a professional discipline to develop new standards, processes, and solutions.  Serves as a subject matter expert across Leidos.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typically requires a BA degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.
