The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) was established to be the technology-driven core of Leidos and continue our tradition of solving the toughest scientific and engineering problems for customers. We primarily perform externally-funded contract research and development (CRAD) work for customers in Defense and Intelligence Science and Technology (S&T) organizations such as DARPA, IARPA, AFRL.

LInC’s mission is to research, develop, and transition innovative technologies and solutions to solve enduring and emerging national and global technical challenges. We’re able to meet that mission because we have the broad technical expertise needed to rapidly prototype and field solutions in areas such as AI and machine learning, big data, cyber, surveillance systems, autonomy, sensors, applied biology, and directed energy.
The Senior Cyber Research Lead will report to the Senior Cyber Business Management/Technology Lead and perform research and development and strategy development/implementation to further the LInC’s cyber business standing in the industry.
o Building internal relationships with Leidos cybersecurity personnel and external relationships with customers and collaborators
o Formulating and executing a cyber-research agenda
o Preparing technical briefings for customers on new project ideas
o Working with internal and external customers to define and develop new internally-funded and customer-funded R&D projects
o Providing technical oversight to and collaboration with PIs executing cyber R&D programs
o Providing cyber thought-leadership through customer interactions, interviews, publications, patents and speaking engagements
o Providing cyber SME support to multiple R&D programs
o Conducting internal program reviews with PMs/PIs for cyber R&D programs
o Providing technical support to Leidos enterprise cyber business captures
o Leading cyber technical interchange meetings with customers and collaborators
o Supporting cyber program life cycle work including RFI response preparation, program capture, technical proposal writing, proposal review, and also program execution as Principal Investigator (PI)
A qualified candidate will have:
- A demonstrated research track record in Cyber
- Master's Degree and 15+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's Degree
- Five or more years of experience in a research environment (academia, government, industry) performing cutting-edge cyber-offense and defense R&D work
- Demonstrated successful experience as a PI for other government-sponsored (DARPA, IARPA, AFRL, IC) R&D programs
- A current Top Secret/SCI clearance or ability to receive Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Ability to travel up to 25% of his time
Preferred qualifications include:
o A PhD or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or Math
o Patents and conference and peer-reviewed journal publications
