The QRC AISR Goup at Leidos has an immediate opening for a Satellite Communications Engineer to be based out of Bridgewater, VA. The job of the Satellite Communications Engineer is to provide overall RF and Satellite Communications support to a critical ISR project. The Satellite Communications Engineer will support multiple deployed Radio Frequency and SATCOM Communication System Suites providing overall communications support for multiple deployed aerial surveillance platforms.
As an ASO you will be responsible to collect and provide limited analysis of multi-source information while safely and effectively functioning as an aircrew member on a multi-position aircraft. Selected candidate may work with ELINT, E/O IR, and/or hyperspectral imagers.
Install, configure, integrate, troubleshoot and manage HF, UHF, SATCOM, radio communications Suites and associated cryptographic equipment deployed.
Assist Lead Communications Engineer with tracking system requirements, development efforts and assist with continued engineering of system upgrades/ improvements.
Report directly to the Technical and Site Lead; interact with operators, users, and the military in the delivery of RF and SATCOM services.
Maintain systems and develop preventive maintenance schedules and conduct periodic preventive maintenance.
Additional duties as needed may include; maintaining computer IT systems, routers, switches, cabling, desktop, hardware, Supporting VSAT System and phones, creating outage reports routine event logs, installation of large satellite antenna systems.
This is an OCONUS rotational position. Based on business/contract requirement, there may be an opportunity to work in Bridgewater, VA on the off-rotations.
Perform duties as an Airborne Sensor Operator as required to include, preflight, flight, and post flight duties as required to safely and effectively operate the assigned sensors and mission set. This includes, mission planning, pre-briefings, mission system inspection, operation, troubleshooting, post-flight inspections, debriefings, and mission documentation.
To be considered for this position candidates must:
-Be able to obtain a passport or visa to travel CONUS and OCONUS
-Be willing to work in Hardship and Hazardous locations
-Be willing to work long hours and / or non-regular hours with minimal notice
-Be capable of working independently or as part of a team
-Possess or be able to obtain a FAA Class II Medical Certificate or military equivalent
-Have or be able to successfully complete altitude chamber / physiological training
-Be able to successfully accomplish the CONUS Replacement Center course which requires a successful deployment physical, immunizations and training
-Be willing to fly for extended periods
-Be capable of lifting and carrying 50+ lbs for extended distances
-BS degree and 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
-Possess strong problem-solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
-Candidate must be willing and able to spend months at a time OCONUS performing field repairs and maintenance of systems and avionics mounted on an aircraft.
-Must have an active Secret security clearance.
-Must have a current CompTIA Security + certification within 180 of hiring on.
-Must obtain a Computing Environment certification within 180 days of hiring on.
Experience with UHF/VHF/HF radio systems, SATCOM equipment, cryptographic equipment, keying data transfer devices (DTD’s), RF Test Equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters), basic electronic principles, and basic knowledge of networking equipment is preferred.
