Leidos is hiring a Systems Engineer in Washington DC. The candidate will interface directly with government personnel to help design and guide technical solutions and business
processes for critical public health research and response mission spaces. This position required US Citizenship; candidate must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.
Work directly with the customer to capture and formalize ‘Baseline’ and ‘To Be’ business user stories, use cases, requirements, system architectures, and data schema.
Track and communicate solution and system development, production and maintenance activities.
Design and execute test plans for solution and system testing.
Help support the identification and considerations for alternative application solutions to meet business customer needs.
Candidate must be a US Citizen who is eligible for a Public Trust clearance
BA/BS in SE, CS, IT or similar field and 8+ yrs of relevant experience OR MA/MS and 6+ years of relevant experience
8+ years’ of combined experience in system engineering, software development or business analysis required
Demonstrated initiative soliciting customer requirements and translating them into formalized structured technical products
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Concise writing and ability to communicate technical content to broad audiences are critical candidate abilities
Executing Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies
Soliciting and documenting use cases and designs for system requirements (User Stories, Use Cases, Requirements, Specifications, Data Schema, Business Process Workflows)
Use of system management tools such as Jira, Redmine or advanced spreadsheets
Developing and executing testing and acceptance plans
Tracking bugs, issues and resolutions
Performing data analysis and reporting
Systems Engineering knowledge and can readily execute low-level engineering tasks as well as high-level technical project management tasks
MS in Systems Engineering or a related discipline
Prioritizing and communicating requirements and system development activities
Communicating impact of requirement changes on active development activities
Executing and presenting trade space of alternatives with cost benefit analysis
Establishing and managing system versioning
Supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) activities and other production system processes
Participation or familiarity with non-SCRUM based system development methodologies such as MDA, Architecture Driven Development (ADD), UML and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Administration and custom configuration experience of system management tools such as JIRA and Redmine
Experience in developing advanced data visualizations
