Leidos currently has an exciting opportunity for a Chief System Engineer, located at our offices in the Columbia, MD area.
The successful and talented candidate will provide technical leadership and direction to support sound system engineering concepts. Interface with the following groups: software development, testing, integration, deployment, and sustainment. Lead and take on technologically challenging tasks, provide guidance to development teams, and perform in accordance with and guide implementation using best practices.
Candidate should be a technical expert in systems engineering and responsible for technical direction for the design and development of systems engineering on the cutting edge of technology.
• Oversees a team of engineers (both Leidos and subcontractors) developing a modern cryptographic order fulfillment and print production capability. • Works closely with Chief Security Engineer in delivery of secure SW and HW solutions and environments • Responsible for execution of the overall agile engineering approach and all associated system engineering processes and artifacts. • Identifies potential technical risks and their mitigation and ongoing process improvements. • Leads trade studies and evaluates technical alternatives including cost and risk • Ensure all required engineering artifacts are kept current, of high quality, and accessible to stakeholders when required. • Utilizes organizational, leadership, best practices, creativity and problem-solving skills while ensuring standards are met in delivering quality products and services • Responsible for Architecture runway for program roadmap • Provides technical expertise to agile development, system engineering, testing, and training teams • Works with customer and other team members to translate requirements to backlog items • Provides direction to the engineering team in the architecture and design of solutions to meet overall program objectives • Represents technical team at customer meetings and stand-ups.
The successful candidate should have the following skills/experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Science, or related field and Twelve plus years of experience (Will consider three additional years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree).
Twelve (12) years of experience in designing and developing integration products similar to those employed for the Cryptographic Physical Products Modernization program using best practices in an agile environment.
Have a demonstrated understanding of secure systems engineering and development, including system/security requirements analysis, system/security requirements allocation, trade-off analysis, system security analysis, and secure system definition and specification development. In addition, knowledge of software engineering and development, software testing, and software documentation is desirable.
Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
