The Leidos Innovations Center currently has an opening for a chief space engineer in Southern California. This is an exciting opportunity to use your systems engineering experience to support the design and development of new space sensing capabilities on a variety of programs. We are looking for candidates that want to shape the future of space sensing in support of missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence, battlespace awareness and civil/environmental applications of infrared technologies and software solutions. Experience with MBSE is essential along with hands-on experience with requirements development. Experience with IVV&T, risk management, and system certification is desirable.
Primary Responsibilities
As the program’s Chief Space Engineer, you would be responsible leading all system engineering activities as a direct report to the program manager, including: requirements analysis and development, trade studies and analyses, verification definition, problem diagnosis and solution design, and related activities. The SE must be able to adapt quickly to obstacles and changing demands as well as evaluate systems and make recommendations for improvements and solutions.
The successful candidate will interface with customers and understand their needs, communicating the requirements and timeline for their system plan. Being able to clearly communicate concepts using both written and oral methods is essential. Will work with a diverse team to ensure projects are completed effectively and efficiently.
Basic Qualifications
Requires Masters with 15 plus years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13 plus years of prior relevant experience. Must have experience with MBSE methodology including tools such as Cameo NoMagic or equivalent. Must have experience working space sensing systems or ground data processing systems. Experience working on Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems and similar space programs is required. Knowledge of military methods, tactics and systems is desired as they relate to operating and using space-based systems. Must have at least a Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI desired.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with requirements traceability tools such as DOORS is desired. Experience with software development, mission data processing, and electrical engineering concepts is desired.
