Leidos Defense Group is seeking a Field Electronics Technician to provide in port maintenance support, repair services and support for Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) mission equipment during T-AGOS ship in-port periods and in-port availability periods.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Provide direct support and quality control of SURTASS Mission Readiness Availabilities (MRA)/Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR). Conduct TL-29A System grooms and module balances. The candidate for this position will be performing all work associated with shipboard repair, upgrades and installation of electronic systems on US Navy vessels. The candidate will also be required to support, perform maintenance and repair of the SURTASS COMM SUBSYSTEM, which includes SHF, UHF SATCOM, LOS, HF, IFF, SECURE VOICE, and DATA CRYPTO, KMI, NIPRNET, SIPRNET, ADNS/CFCP. Perform equipment installations and training. Reviewing and/or preparing operational and maintenance procedures, manuals and other government entities procedures used for the SURTASS program for completeness as required. Preparation and submission of required engineering and administrative reports. Perform engineering research and analysis on new and existing equipment. CONUS and OCONUS travel is required. Must be able to accept scheduled and unscheduled CONUS and OCONUS assignments and extensions up to 3 months with limited advance notice, based on the SURTASS program operational tempo. Must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport. Successful candidate must be capable of passing Mariners Physical per COMSCINST 6000.1.c and must maintain their medical fitness for the position. The selected candidate may be required to work at sea on ships, work rotating shifts and work in excess of 40 hours per week. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified material.

Basic Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology and 4 or more years of experience or a graduate of US Navy electronics “C” school and 4 years of directly related military experience. Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret clearance level. A minimum of 2 years, of related experience. Military experience can substitute for degree. Previous SURTASS ship rider experience is a plus. Must have the ability to work under only very general supervision. Selected candidate shall have a thorough understanding of COTS maintenance, understanding of open architecture implications, and familiarity with administration of the U.S. Navy Maintenance Material Management (3M) system. Must have the ability to work under limited supervision and able to provide training to shipboard assigned electronic maintenance technicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in military computers and networks including COMPOSE operations, ­­­­­­maintenance, and system administration is preferred.

Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of SURTASS ARRAYS which includes: TL-29A Twin-line, Low Frequency Active (LFA), Compact Low Frequency Active (CLFA) and High Frequency Marine Mammal Mitigation Sonar (HFM3).

Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of the SURTASS COMM SUBSYSTEM which includes: SHF, UHF SATCOM and LOS, HF, NOW, IFF, SECURE VOICE and DATA CRYPTOs, CMS, EKMS, SIPRNET, ADNS/CFCP, NIPRNET.
