On contract award, Leidos will have an opening for a Telephone Technician III (DEFENSE RED SWITCH NETWORK (DRSN) SUPPORT) in the country of Qatar. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the AFCENT Communications Technical Support Service IV mission. In this mission we ensure communications information is available to forward deployed forces supporting Operation Resolute Support and Inherent Resolve in South West Asia (SWA) and the continuing mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD).
The candidate shall maintain continuous operations of the DRSN 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year (24x7x365) (around-the-clock).The contractor shall maintain, administer, and install DRSN equipment. Con-tractors providing O&M support shall have a TS/SCI security clearance. All O&M support shall be performed IAW Joint Staff and DISA Instructions, as well as the SPIN-C.

e. Power Supplies
g. IST programming to support user requirements
h. Perform software upgrades
The candidate shall support equipment installation, placement, or relocation, including system checkout, test, and maintenance. Will also have supervisory duties.
The candidate shall perform all work IAW the specifications and policies of the DoD, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCSI), DISA/DISA-Europe and USAF, and manufacturers of system components and with generally accepted telecommunications industry practices. Subtasks shall include:
a. Operate DRSN switch and associated hardware respectively IAW technical manuals.
b. Start and configure the switch, respond to console messages, execute available diagnostic routines, and monitor system status.
c. Power down and start up system(s): mount and remove disks, cartridges, or tapes; select input/output files; load programs, files, and data base(s); and perform recoveries from machine stops or malfunctions.
d. Perform disk, cartridge, or tape backup of the DRSN switch programming every seven calendar days. When database changes have occurred, backups shall be completed within 24 hours.
e. Perform system/data administration on all equipment and software. The contractor shall accomplish data-base changes per time frames IAW DoD and DISA directives.
f. Perform software functions and translations for any add, move, change, delete, query of a circuit or system data, service order, trouble assistance, records administration, and call usage documentation.
g. Perform minor installations as part of O&M and assist during major installations.
- Must meet the certification requirement of DoD 8570.01-M, SPIN-C, or individual task order.
- Must have switch certification on Nortel SL-100 or Meridian I/Succession 1000 family of switches and/or completed Avaya Professional Credential Program (Degree of certification will be identified in individual TO)
- Lead level “hands on” work experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of telecommunications systems or equipment.
- Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
- Experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices.
- Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of prior relevant experience.
- Personnel in this labor category are considered experts in the field. Lead level experience in maintenance/troubleshooting telecommunications equipment as specified in the specified task order to include the following:
- Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Equipment
- Raytheon secure digital switches
- Must have experience working with switches of interface Inter-Switch Trunks (ISTs) from DoD and commercial microwave/satellite systems and other equipment needed to extend voice transmissions across fiber or copper mediums.
- Must have TS/SCI Clearance
