Job Description:

The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a Sr. Java Developer/API Manager in the Windsor Mill area of Baltimore, MD.

The Manager/Java Developer will have extensive experience supporting enterprise solutions. The candidate will provide direction on solution design, and possess the ability to document, communicate, and implement the designs patterns they utilize. The candidate will write technical white papers and document the design of proposed and new systems, as well as reverse engineering existing systems. The candidate will contribute to the design, participate in development, maintenance, and continued support of computer/network operating system and other system software. The prime accountability for the candidate is major projects and will develop detailed and robust requirements, code, test, and implement proposed systems.


The candidate will communicate verbally and through clear written form progress on all work, including providing status on work activities, providing technical support, responding to issues, generating meaningful reports, and other deliverables to convey progress and plans for continued advancements.  
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction in the creation, development and best practices of API Design
  • Provide support and guidance on self-service API subscription
  • Provide support and guidance on API proxy creation and deployment
  • Troubleshoot technical issues including those associated with CI/CD API and API/API proxy deployment
  • Provide and maintain API proxy pre-populated templates for Jenkins pipeline API/API Proxy deployment
  • Responsible for error logs, must identify and troubleshoot issues
  • Respond & troubleshoot issues reported by developer community
  • Provide support to developer community and guidance on self-service API subscription
  • Provide support and guidance to API developers on how to run their API stats on the developer portal
  • 24/7/365 tech support for production environment
  • Support for non-production environments during regular business hours
  • Process requests and troubleshoot issues associated with API/API Proxy creation and deployment

Required:

Master’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to present ideas and concepts effectively
  • Experience with complex programming, program debugging, data analysis, problem analysis and resolution issues.
  • Knowledge on API and API Proxies
  • Understanding of RESTful and SOAP Services
  • Knowledge of Modern Development environment and technologies
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of the API Management platform
  • Experienced working with Google Apigee applying actions as described in responsibilities listed above.
  • Apigee Edge Engineering Certification
  • Understanding of the following open source solutions: Cassandra, Postgres, Qpid
  • Knowledge of JIRA
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Desired:
