On contract award, Leidos will have an opening for a Cable Television (CATV) Technician III in the country of Qatar. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the AFCENT Communications Technical Support Service IV mission. In this mission we ensure communications information is available to forward deployed forces supporting Operation Resolute Support and Inherent Resolve in South West Asia (SWA) and the continuing mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD).
The successful candidate shall supply, install, operate, and maintain CATV systems and equipment, including the Government satellite cable network and FM Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) radio broadcasts, and support the day-to-day technical operations of the CATV infrastructure. The candidate shall install, repair, and maintain CATV equipment and subsystem equipment, existing RG-6, RG-11, RG-59 cable, inter-facility fiber cable, junction boxes, and interface equipment. The candidate shall install inside cable plant coaxial cable to support expansion of the system including support to identify defective cable and replace and bury CATV cabling. The candidate shall support Commanders Access Channel, Force Protection Channel, and Morale Channel. Primary and auxiliary CATV equipment includes:
a. Downlink antennas
b. Low Noise Block (LNB) downconverters
c. Signal monitors
d. Fiber optic distribution equipment
e. Video ticker system
f. PAL/NTSC converters
g. Audio/video modulators
h. RF splitters and combiners
The candidate will supervise a small team.
- Lead level of “hands on” work experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment.
- Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of prior relevant experience.
- Required an active Secret Clearance
Personnel in this labor category are considered experts in the field. Lead level experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, alignments, testing, and troubleshooting of CATV broadcast receive equipment as specified in the task order to include:
- Downlink Antennas
- Signal Monitors
- Fiber optic distribution equipment
- Video ticker system
- Phase Alternating Line (PAL) Encoding System
