Leidos is seeking an experienced Database Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance in Suitland, MD. All work is onsite.
The Database Engineer will have production development background in both Linux, Windows and Cloud enterprise environments with expertise and passion for query optimization and parallel and distributed execution engines. The Database Engineer will support the Maritime Intelligence Environment (MIE) Systems Support Task.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for fast-paced complex distributed database environments with the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure. You will act as a trusted advisor to architects and engineers and become a crucial part of the deployment and operations of our systems
Design, develop, and maintain multiple enterprise-quality software applications using Java, databases, search engines, analytics software, etc.
Work with software development, quality engineering (QE), and product management teams to design and implement features and capabilities
Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with development Teams
Maintain development and production environments
Monitor and maintain database security and database software
Database & Application (i.e., SQL & PL/SQL) performance tuning
Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
Review, design and develop data models in conjunction with the application development teams
Design, develop, and implement database instances for the development and production environments
Help to create unit tests and automation scripts
Review and provide input for product documentation
Research and solve customer issues; research software and technologies
Active TS/SCI clearance required
BA/BS in CS, Engineering, Knowledge Management, related discipline or military training (Afloat KM). Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
8+ years of experience with database engineering/knowledge management.
Multi-database (cross-vendor e.g. Oracle, Sybase) development experience with understanding of database-to-database communications and interconnection with J2EE applications.
Experience with database tuning to accommodate complex queries against large databases with an excess of a million records.
Experience with interconnection with content repositories such as Apache JCR "Jackrabbit".
Experience with interconnection with cross domain guard technology and with web services.
Experience with Exadata systems – administration and performance tuning.
SQL and PL-SQL programming/scripting skills; knowledge of cloud services and data storage
Knowledge of the DOD IA Workforce Improvement Program requirements, DOD 8570.01-M and SECNAV M-5239.2 for Knowledge Management.
A minimum of a Network+ industry certification is required prior to start date
Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments; experience with Data Persistence platforms (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc.), NoSQL, Hadoop,
Data and Software Migration off/to RDBMS, AWS DBs (RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, Redshift, Aurora, etc.), Data Information Lifecycle Management
