The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Quality Assurance Specialist to work in our Aberdeen Proving Ground and Edgewood, MD offices. The Quality Assurance Specialist will support C5ISR prototyping and Test and Quality Assurance activities for the rapid prototyping, integration and testing of C5ISR technologies in multiple military platforms. The candidate will also be responsible for completing tasks related to kitting and reporting project status to the Program Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support QA/QC of fabricated items and completed system integration efforts to verify conformance with engineering design and specification. Inspect items fabricated internally and by outside vendors for conformance with specification.
  • Generate Material Reject Reports (MRRs) for items that do not meet required specification and request root cause feedback.
  • Support external and external quality audit activities.
  • Complete day-to-day tasks to integrate tactical vehicle installation kits
  • Work with team to keep Program Manager informed of status of material purchases, completed kits, and issues that may affect project schedule.
  • Provide on-going monitoring of material distribution and stock levels to ensure the safe and efficient flow of materials from suppliers to customer. 
  • Work with quality control, purchasing and planning to ensure components flow and visibility to all involved. 
  • Prepare components for kitting, to include bagging hardware, wrapping fabricated parts, and labeling
  • Assist with operations of a supply room to include stocking shelves, inventorying, shopping for resupply items, and issuing consumable supplies to customers. 
  • Operate a forklift and pallet lift.  
  • Support property inventory and management functions, must be able to operate computer equipment and customized software for equipment tracking. 
  • Prepare and ship completed kits. 
  • Demonstrate willingness to complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in order to support the overall organization. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance. 
  • Two-year degree in Engineering Technology, Business, Accounting or related scientific/technical discipline and 3-5 years’ experience. An additional 4 years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
  • Basic understanding of and familiarity with Military and DoD quality standards such as MIL-Q-9588A, MIL I 45208, or ISO-9001.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, execute and monitor through completion shipping documents such as Commercial Bills of lading (CBL) and Government Bills of Lading (GBL). 
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be organized in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with destructive and/or nondestructive testing, collection of quality metrics, execution of quality plans, and/or preparation and execution of quality-related tests, audits, inspections, data collections, report preparation.
  • Experience with conducting quality assurance inspections of cables, fabricated parts, and/or painted products.
  • Experience with assembling, packaging and shipping of kits. 
  • Ability to balance priorities and to thrive in a multi-customer environment.
