The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a DevOps/Cloud Engineer in Baltimore, MD.

Position Description:

  • ​Under the ITSSC II program, Leidos supports the full range of IT integration services supporting a multi-platform computing environment, including: information systems modernization initiatives, software engineering, project management, infrastructure services, data warehousing, database administration, research, planning, security, federal enterprise architecture initiatives, and all levels of Internet, Intranet and Web portal initiatives and migrating legacy architecture to web-based platforms. Leidos has an immediate need for a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to provide Agile deployment expertise and hands on implementation of the Disability Case Processing System (DCPS) application using the latest open source and AWS technologies.  The candidate will be collocated with the SSA government employees and subcontractors at a government facility in Baltimore, Maryland. The candidate must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.
  • Specifically the successful candidate will be a member of an Agile Cloud/DevOps Team working with other Agile development teams, System Architects, Test Architects, Database Engineers, Implementation team, Global Validation team, IT Infrastructure & Operations Team and External System Owners to develop the DCPS application using open source technologies and products.
  • Experience with implementing, managing and monitoring environments utilizing Cloud Technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Private (on premise) or Commercial/Public (off-premise) Clouds.
  • Experience implementing AWS core services like EC2, VPC, ELB, EBS, IAM, S3, Cloud Trail, Cloud Watch, etc.
  • Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate and to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently
  • Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS including Splunk, Nagios and Dynatrace
  • Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform.

Requirements:

Education:

  • BS with 8 years of experience; Masters with 6 years of experience.

Required Skills

  • Well-versed in DevOps principles and the use of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Nexus, Bitbucket etc.
  • Experience with Jira, Version One, Confluence and extensive experience with Agile methodologies
  • Understanding and practical experience with PaaS and IaaS categories of Cloud computing.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills in providing technical direction and hands-on software deployment.
  • Requires ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile development process and ceremonies including scrums, planning events, backlog grooming, retrospectives and demos.
  • Complex scripting, debugging, data analysis, problem analysis and resolution of issues within open source applications.
  • Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes using shell and Ansible scripting.
  • Knowledgeable with PaaS Tools such as Cloud Foundry and OpenShift.
  • Operating System and Infrastructure experience with RedHat Linux and Windows 10.
  • Experience with VersionOne Application Lifecycle Management Tools.
  • Experience with source code versioning and Pull Requests with Git and Stash/BitBucket.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with customers and other team members.
