Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team in our Houston, TX office at Johnson Space Center, Flight Operations Directorate, Vehicle Integration and Daily Operations Branch. The ideal candidate will support an integration/liaison function between Mission Control Center – Houston (MCC-H) and Visiting Vehicle control centers known as the Inventory and Stowage Officer (ISO). ISO is responsible for managing all ISS onboard inventory and stowage. ISOs use tools and databases to track stowage onboard the ISS and prepare messages for the crew to execute.
Duties will require successfully completing the ISO training and skill certification process (~ 18 months), along with obtaining and passing a Flight Controller Physical.
The candidate must demonstrate the abilities to
- provide real-time operations support from the Mission Control Center
- communicate with the onboard crew and previously flown crew members to determine operational improvements to crew activities
- integrate inputs from multiple teams and balance those requests against the priorities of the ISS Program
- execute geometrical analysis and choreography planning for visiting vehicle activities
- develop ground and on-orbit procedures and operational documentation
- prepare console support products and internal ISO Group documentation
- support technical meetings
- perform other tasks as assigned
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills are mandatory. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks.
Basic Qualifications
Due to facility security requirements and proprietary information, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for consideration, and examination, for this position.
Bachelors of Science Degree, in Engineering (ABET), Mathematics, Physics, or in a similar field of study.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to progress through a flight controller certification.
Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically and internationally.
Candidate should be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone or as part of a team.
Candidate must be able to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment.
Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) is required.
This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.

Attention to detail and strict adherence to deadlines is required along with the ability to successfully work/negotiate on a daily basis with multiple customers across NASA, the Commercial Providers, and the ISS International Partners.
The candidate must be able to effectively communicate and understand complex technical and operational issues as they relate to both the ISS and Commercial spacecraft.
