The MUMPS Developer will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support an organization's business applications. This position will be worked from your home office within the United States.

The MUMPS Developer will have experience with VistA, HL7, FHIR, REST, JSON, and messaging and exchange protocols. This role will be able to develop ad hoc databases queries utilizing MUMPS statement, Boolean expressions, and Fileman. Success in this position will require knowledge and experience with VistA files and data dictionaries, FileMan, CPRS, and debugging Cache routines.

The MUMPS Developer will be involved in analysis and the investigation of related applications, prepare design specifications, and have the ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Will be able to effectively write code for new MUMPS routines to support implementation of new requirements; will be able to change existing MUMPS routines to meet new requirements while ensuring existing system functionality is not affected; will be able to prepare documentation and other artifacts for MUMPS patch releases.

This role requires excellent communication skills with all levels of management, customers, team members, and technical staff; may require mentoring lesser skilled developers. Must be able to keep all stakeholders informed, prioritize tasks, and have the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams. Candidate may be required to create/update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) outlining how documentation is established and processes are followed. Will be required to support and meet set project schedules. Candidate will participate and contribute in various project meetings as a subject matter expert (SME) for related areas. Candidate must have a calm and poised ability to resolve/troubleshoot incidents and problems. The candidate will require a high level of problem solving skills and be able to complete tasks independently.


  • Expert MUMPS developer with Bachelor's Degree and 8-10 years of previous experience.
  • Experience with VA networks/environments.
  • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications.
  • Proficient with Agile frameworks and regression testing.
  • Proficient with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC).
  • Proficient abilities to develop HL7 messaging.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand front-end users requirements and a problem solving attitude.
  • Agile methodology.
  • Recent or Current VA a credentials and Elevated privileges
  • Current Public Trust or higher Clearance.
  • Our government contract requires US Citizenship.
