Job Description:

***This position is located in Afghanistan for the CLS-Afghan Program Support***

Leidos is currently seeking a motivated A&P Avionics Mechanic to work on the CLS-A program. The CLS-A program currently supports Special Mission Wing (SMW) operations. The ideal candidate will work and travel in between customer sites as needed; customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. The A&P Avionics Mechanic will perform inspections and aircraft avionics maintenance in accordance with applicable technical data.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs inspections, make adjustments and repairs, replaces components, and corrects any malfunctions or deficiencies with and without power applied to aircraft
Performs aircraft avionics maintenance in accordance with applicable technical data, SOPs and FAA/JAA regulations
Accesses, removes and re-installs aircraft components including mechanical and electrical which obstruct the performance of assigned repair/replace tasks
Assists with repairs on off-aircraft components such as switch panels, circuit breaker panels, and junction boxes
Performs basic mechanical and electrical removals and installations
Performs troubleshooting of all avionics/mission systems (as applicable) installed on the aircraft
Documents work performed
Fabricates parts/wire harness and installs per engineering drawings and instructions
Assists in troubleshooting off-aircraft components such as switch panels, circuit breaker panels, and junction boxes
Complies with all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
Performs other tasks such as cleaning aircraft using approved materials, methods and equipment
Assists in updating and completion of work orders and operation details; assists with on-going maintenance tasks when avionics specific tasks are complete
Analyzes and develops solutions to complex electronic problems
Assist in maintaining compliance in accordance with ground operating procedures (GOP) and local operating instruction (LOI)

Basic Qualifications:
FAA A&P License
High School Diploma, relevant work experience may substitute for required education
Minimum 5 years on Fixed-Wing/ Rotary platforms
Ability to read detailed schematics, engineering drawings/ diagrams and aircraft
Ability to use Avionic bench testing equipment and test sets
Knowledge of aircraft manuals and service bulletins
Basic and advanced use of hand tools, aviation ground support equipment (AGSE) and precision measurement devices

As the position location is in Afghanistan, the following requirements need to be met:
US citizen
Possess a valid state driver’s license
Active passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiration prior to start date.
Visa with multiple entries for 12 months prior to start date
Completion of Customer required International Readiness Certifications prior to deployment.
Failure to complete any of these actions within 60 days of accept will result in rescinding of the offer. If the candidate is unable to pass the medical screening after the start date and prior to deployment an immediate administrative termination will be requested.

Honeywell EPIC or APEX

Ability to mentor foreign/ local nationals (LN) and work alongside other country nationals (OCN)
