Job Description:

Leidos-Pittsburgh current has opening for Quality Inspector/Shipping/Receiving/Laborer to work at our Manufacturing Shop in Pittsburgh, PA 15236. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in our US NAVY shipboard environmental waste programs supplying OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equipment to the Navy’s new construction vessels as well as supporting existing equipment in the fleet.  

Primary Responsibilities:
-Perform receipt inspection to drawing dimensions, material specs and DFAR compliant material.  As necessary, document Non-Conformance and work back through engineering/procurement/vendor for final resolution.  Ability to perform in-process inspection of shop’s sub-assemblies (dimensional verification to drawing).   Ability to travel to local machine shops to perform in-process inspections.
-Extensive experience in prepping equipment for Freight and/or UPS delivery – includes setting up shipment packaging (Wood Shop skills to build bracing, size crates), document shipment with pictures.
-Excellent Documentation Skills – required for maintaining Government Furnished Equipment log and maintaining material release in inventory area for Contracts.
-Perform fire extinguishers, forklift, crane and eye wash station environmental safety inspections and maintain electronic logs.
-Kit various incoming parts for shop work orders and or outgoing customer shipments.
-Maintain log of shipping documents, test procedures and incoming material inspection documents.
-Computer knowledgeable in file management, scanning documents, on-line accounts for Freight/UPS/FedEx.  Should be proficient in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
-Work with field teams to ensure shipment of tools and or parts to meet work schedules.
-Ability to multi-task, have sense of urgency w/respect to shipments.   Plan, schedule and coordinate daily schedule for shop priority tasks.
-Willing to jump in to get task done as general laborer, hydro testing piping … basically hands team member.
-Knowledge in working with FARO ARM for inspection is desired but not mandatory.
-Weld inspector experience is desired but not mandatory.
-Point of Contact for facility maintenance contractors (from landlord) and for incoming/outgoing shipments.
-Field experience at US Naval Ship yards is a plus, other industrial plant experience will be considered.

Basic Qualifications:
-HS & 3+ years in Quality Inspection and 3+ years in Shipping/Receiving.   
-Ability to multi-task, and work both individually and as part of a team.   
-Excellent documentation skills both electronically and maintaining logs.  
-~2-5% local travel
-Must be able to obtain and hold a DOD Secret security clearance (if required at same time).

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience reading drawings (geometric tolerances and weld symbols, bill-of materials and cut-away views).   
-Experience in Quality Inspection including use of inspect dimensional tools, FARO arm inspection, and welds.
