The Airborne Solutions Division currently has a dynamic opportunity for a junior level Mechanical Engineer to work in our Manassas, Virginia office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills to help in designing, upgrading and maintaining aircraft modifications on the U.S. Army’s Fixed Wing ISR platforms.
-Lead and perform mechanical design and analysis of airframe modification and mission equipment payload (MEP) provisions. This may include both external and internal modifications/provisions. You may be required to lead a small team of engineers and consult with airframe OEM’s and subject matter experts outside of Leidos.
-Track task status, and provide reports to leadership chain
-Work in a shop environment, and consult with aircraft production staff, as needed.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
-Bachelors of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, with 2+ years’ experience, or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
-Experience using SolidWorks CAD software
-Experience with finite element modeling (FEM) software and drafting substantiation reports
-Strong manufacturing process knowledge to optimize viable designs
-Experience designing structural components, with composites, machined and sheet metal products
-Design or project lead experience
-Strong communication skills for collaboration
-Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and possess strong time management skills
-20% CONUS travel required
-A DoD clearance is NOT required to start; a final Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance, is required.
-Knowledgeable on aircraft structures
-Familiar with Military and/or FAA airworthiness substantiation requirements
