The Defense Group at Leidos is currently seeking at Systems Administrator to join the team in Norfolk, VA.
Administer mission-critical infrastructure. Monitor existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. Contribute to and maintain system standards. Research and recommend innovative approaches for system administration tasks, automated where possible. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. This position requires the understanding of processes to maintain high security profiles on servers via installation of operating system patches and DOD security vulnerability patches. Performs functions at a high level of skill and proficiency. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning.
Implement and maintain DISA STIG requirements. Creates and maintains updated and accurate Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and other datacenter server and network system documentation.
•Install, configure, test, and maintain HPE Bare metal server hardware in datacenter rack enclosures
•Install VMWare ESXi on HP bare metal server hardware devices.
•Install Microsoft Server 2016 and SQL operating system and other required software in a medium to large scale virtual computing environment.
•Maintain and fully patch/update/mitigate Server Operating System images for testing and production, and provides assistance to other system administrators with system integration and implementation.
•Collaborates with other Systems Administrators with troubleshooting and resolving issues that negatively affect the customer’s virtual computing environment.
•Works directly with VMware VCenter Server/ESXi, VMWare performance monitoring, VMware Update Manager, SCOM, HPE 3Par Storage SAN, and ComVault back-up and recovery Suite
•Maintain virtual machines for maximum efficiency and monitors the virtual and physical network to ensure system availability.
•Updates system drawings, rack elevations, and backend server system diagrams as required.
•Coordinates with other server operations administrators and system hardware engineers/integrators with server modernization planning and system implantation.
•Ensure required server patching/updates are correctly applied and performs server system maintenance IAW JSP approved scheduled maintenance evolutions
•Experience applying DOD STIG configurations
•Requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience; additional experience in lieu of degree accepted.
•Working knowledge and experience with VMWare VCenter, VMWare ESXi

•Excellent writing and speaking skills
•Ability to work Shift Schedule will be daily Monday -thru- Friday and occasional on call support in the event of an emergency situation.
•Must be able to Schedule after hour server patch management and maintenance evolutions
•Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
DOD 8570.01 IAT level II certifications:
•Current VMware VCA (VCP 6- preferred) certification or Windows Server 2016 OS certification
•Server Fundamentals (MTA) will suffice in lieu of Server 2016
