Job Description:

The Leidos Civil team has an opening for a Technical Lead / Database Administrator to work on a high priority government system, on a high- energy team with technical challenges of interest for all.

Development environment is chiefly a Java-centric J2EE XML shop.  Unix/Linux, Java, Eclipse, XML, XSD, XSLT, a large database and repository.  There are C/C++ components as well

  • Unix/Linux/Windows
  • 10 TB Oracle database
  • Eclipse IDE
  • IBM WebSphere Portal
  • XML Schema, XSL Stylesheets
  • Java, Javascript, html, Jython, J2EE
  • Web Services via Service Oriented Architecture
  • Oracle Databases/SQL (10 Terabyte database)
  • Agile Design Methodology, 7Rational ClearCase or ClearQuest
  • jBoss Middleware
  • Ant and JACL - Scripting
  • Middleware Testing toolset

There is also a component to extract/inject data from/to a mainframe using

  • A C/C++ interface
  • IBM DB2 database

Responsibilities:

  • Design stable, reliable and effective databases
  • Implement database version dependent best practices and operating procedures including shutdown/start-up procedures
  • Optimize and maintain legacy systems
  • Modify databases according to requests and perform tests
  • Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
  • Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
  • Gather user requirements and identify new features
  • Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols
  • Install, upgrade, and migrate database or related DB components installation/upgrade/migrate
  • Execute transmittals and packages

Required Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Database developer for 12+ years
  • In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
  • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
  • Hands on experience with SQL, Oracle, and DB2
  • Familiarity working with .Net Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and XML
  • An ability to understand user requirements
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant experience (5 – 10 years) of working with large scale/systems of systems/portfolio systems integration programs
  • BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field
