Job Description:
The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Bethesda, MD
Duties:
Perform database administrator tasks including analyze, develop and maintain complex OLTP Oracle 12c/18c backend databases in support of the various business applications
Continually investigate methods to improve database reliability and performance both on premise and AWS
Provide input on capacity planning, high availability solutions and upgrade strategies
Proactive Database performance monitoring
Database performance tuning and best practices implementation
Provide support and guidance to application developers with SQL tuning, data modeling and physical database design
Enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards, ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
Demonstrate technical leadership and mentor junior DBAs
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
Communicate with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience
15+ years of Oracle DBA (Production) experience on UNIX and/or LINUX systems
At least 8 years of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects with Oracle databases
Solid knowledge of Oracle 11g/12c and technical database concepts, such as: logical relational data modeling, physical data modeling, tuning large instances, resource management, data replication and backup/recovery techniques
Experience with Oracle Server on-premise and AWS RDS DB. (PostgreSQL, SQL Server DB and NOSQL is nice to have)
Experience in tuning/AWR/ADDM/SQLT, STATSPACK and monitoring tools like OEM
Ability to develop key performance metrics
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to effectively troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate problems
Experience with automating database tasks using PL/SQL, Ksh, Bsh, Csh, Python and automation tools such as Ansible
Must have excellent communications and documentation skills
Understanding of Change and Incident Management processes
Experience in Federal Grants Management is a plus
Oracle Database Administrator Certifications
Relevant AWS certification preferred
