The Leidos Innovations Center has an exciting opening for you, our next System Integration Engineer, to assist with the design, deployment, and maintenance of the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) full stack containerized microservices architecture.  The DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) program is a next generation machine learning pipeline platform that will provide cutting edge data enrichment, triage, and analytics capabilities to Defense and Intelligence Community members.  D3P will advance the state of the art in mission-focused big data analytics tools and microservice development spanning the breadth of Agile sprints to multiyear research and development cycles. 

This Systems Integration Engineer candidate will serve a vital role to provide technical guidance and application development on the development and implementation of data models in support of the customer’s mission. This engineer will manage and maintain current production data feeds in addition to identifying and engineering solutions to bring additional data sets online, and integrate new releases in multiple environments. 

The Systems Integration Engineer will apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) approaches in support of D3P.  You will work closely with the chief architect, DevOps engineers, Infrastructure engineers, systems engineers, software developers and data engineers, and data scientists on the following key tasks:
•    Ensure computing systems are scalable, stable and predictable; monitor and provide hands on support of the operational/production system utilizing skills in container and container orchestration, messaging platforms, indexing technologies, and other software applications. Includes daily oversight and management of the overall data processing pipeline.
•    Select infrastructure tools, manage production changes and determining emergency responses. Tasks may fall between operations responsibilities and coding/automation.
•    Automate system builds and deployments for release updates and cutover.  
•    Contribute to automation for continuous integration and continuous deployment efforts within different environments.
•    In coordination with operations team assess data processing bottlenecks and scale to meet targeted processing rates and applying data driven analysis
•    Troubleshoot and resolve data processing issues that may require investigations into microservices software as well as file system I/O, networking, and storage capacity.
•    Collaborate with software developers and architecture teams on how to create software that is scalable as well as collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure quality releases.
•    Provide support for software upgrades and system maintenance activities.  
•    Participates in agile development processes to include release planning, scrum team, JIRA tickets, etc.
•    Document technical solutions and processes within Confluence pages.  

To be successful in this role you need these skills (required):
•    Requires BS degree and 4+ years of prior relevant system integration or DevOps engineering experience within an operations/production environment, or Masters degree with at least 2 years of prior relevant experience.
•    An active TS clearance with eligibility to obtain a Polygraph security clearance
•   Solid hands-on ability with Linux, Docker, VMWare, Elasticsearch, ETCD, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Redis, Nexus, and Kafka as well as storage systems (e.g., NetApp, PureStorage)
•    Solid hands-on experience with server clusters, load balancing, and monitoring
•    Solid hands-on ability to create and modify scripts as well as rapid-fire coding, or the ability to write small snippets of code in many different languages within an operations/production environment
•    Well-versed at testing in a virtual environment. 
•    Strong working and hands-on ability with tools such as Salt and GitLab
•    Experience with documenting automation efforts and processes
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately report issues and status in addition to collaboration with team members
•    Ability to work in a team and also a self-starter who can work on their own; ability to bridge gaps between many different IT and software development teams

It would be great if you have specific experiences and skills with the following (preferred):
•    Experience with Cloudera, GPU technologies, HELM, Ansible, etc.
•    Experience applying Infrastructure as Code (IAC) – automating management and provisioning through code 
•    Experience with object stores, database systems, etc.
•    Past software development/programming experience
•    Solid hands on experience with hardware/networking (e.g., UCS, Cisco networking) resources within an operations/production environment
