Based in our RAF Lakenheath client’s office support the installation comprehensive planning process, which establishes a systematic framework for informing decision-making on the physical development of our client’s installations and their environs. The Base Community Planner works with Installation personnel who are responsible for development, maintenance and implementation of installation Comprehensive Planning documents. You will be expected to facilitate the development and maintenance of the Installation Development Plan (IDP) and related products and performs all actions related to siting, including but not limited to site analysis, development of siting documentation packages, input and updating of the Comprehensive Planning Platform (CPP) and presentations for Facility Board integration and approval.
Primary Responsibilities
You will be a team player and able to support the development of Area Development Plans for all applicable areas on the estate for integration into the Installation Development Plan coordinated with any external support required to develop this documentation, including requirements identification and programming, statement of work development, and funding coordination. You may also be asked to interface with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) regarding Council land use planning activities.
You will be asked to bring a broad experience of community planning expertise, knowledge, skills and abilities to this role and be expected to perform from day one. This includes not only the act of planning, but also providing expertise to support and educate our clients staff.
Basic Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced Community Planner with well-developed professional and communications skills, with demonstrable experience in planning roles. You will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a team of people from across multiple organisations and cultures, which will be crucial for your – and our – success.
Essential:
• Strong focus on Health and Safety
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience in development of military or similar institution community plans
• Three or more years of demonstrable/relevant experience
• Evidence of working collaboratively with clients and suppliers to deliver positive results
• SC clearance or suitability for SC clearance
• Good communication and presentational skills
• Ability to work in a diverse and multidiscipline team
• A full UK driving licence is necessary as you may be required to travel to other sites across the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
Desirable:
• Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent organisation
• Experience working with/for U.S. Visiting Forces
• Ten plus years managing large-scale design and construction programmes for the Ministry of Defence or the US military
