Job Description:

Leidos is looking for a talented network engineer in the Spokane, WA area to become a member of our large team supporting the successfully transition of DOD and the Department of Veteran Affairs to a state-of-the-market electronic health record (EHR) system. Our success will be the deployment of a modernized EHR with very minimal or no disruption to health care delivery continuity at the end of this important multi-year program supporting our service members and Veterans. This position will report into the Leidos Electronic Health Record Modernization Organization within Leidos’ Military and Veterans Health Solutions group.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide network and security technical support in the areas of connectivity, security, privacy and interoperability with the various computer platforms in a high availability service level environment. . Remote servers, routers and switches must be developed, designed, installed, configured, secured, backed up, tuned and monitored daily. Network support requires troubleshooting and interacting with a wide range of individuals including customers, end users, programmers and analysts, database administrators, and other system and network administrators. Work location is primarily on-site at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center (Spokane, VA), however 10-25% travel on 2-3 day notice to other locations (e.g, Kansas City, Washington, DC) may be required. 

Basic Qualifications

A demonstrated, hands-on understanding (evidenced by 2-3 years of relevant documented work experience and an interview) of large scale enterprise networking using modern routing protocols and technologies (IP, TCP/IP, IGP, VPC’s, etc.) in a multi-vendor/ multi-technology environment (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, Juniper).  The candidate’s ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner across a spectrum of end users, IT colleagues and senior government and corporate managers while maintaining a collegial and cooperative demeanor is an extremely important required personal trait.  Due to health care security and privacy requirements, the candidate’s attention to detail and diligence in performing accurate and complete work is critical.  Proficiency in the use of communication/collaboration tools (Microsoft Office applications including Visio and Teams) is required, along with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly using written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of DOD, federal agency and health care IT compliance requirements, including security configurations (e.g., HIPAA, NIST 800-53 RMF, DISA STIGs and authentication and encryption requirements).  Relevant vendor and industry certifications (e.g., Cisco/Microsoft/RedHat/Juniper product and/or network/security industry certifications such as CCNA, MSCE, CompTIA, ISC2).  Previous experience with Cerner EHR products and/or DOD or VA systems or networking.  Experience working in an fast paced Agile (time boxed, iterative) software development environment and familiarity with tool use (e.g., JIRA, Scrums, etc.) is desirable.

Bachelor’s degree requirement but can be substituted with 4 additional years of experience
