Job Description:
The Arabic Linguist will be responsible for exploiting open- source information to identify and flag terrorist activity online. This includes processing and translating data from written, audio, and video files and discerning the most important elements. Linguists shall apply in-depth knowledge of desktop applications and internet-based research skills with the ability to effectively use internet search tools, advanced research methods, and digital exploitation of data repositories to identify data, extract pertinent data, and enter data into a database for tracking terrorist activity.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent formal military training with 8+ years of related experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
Work experience must include 4+ years of Language Analysis experience within the DoD/IC.
Language Proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and at least one of the following dialects of Arabic: Iraqi dialect, Levantine dialect, or Yemeni dialect.
Language test scores taken within the last three (3) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Scale Level 3+/3+ in both Listening and Reading. DLPT5 is the preferred test of record; however, other industry-recognized testing may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Language test scores taken within the last three (3) years equivalent to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Scale Level 4+, or better, in both Listening and Reading. Completion of ANSK1010, RPTG1012, RPTG2225 and RPTG2235, experience with DNI/DNR and language analysis at the time of hire is highly desired. Experience working with special operations is also a plus. Collection management and target management is also a plus. Applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technology into layman terms. Applicants must be self-starters, possess the ability to develop analytical leads from little initial information to aide in target discovery, must be able to operate with little to no guidance, be creative, willing to work as a member of a team, be well organized, and able to manage an individual schedule. The ability to work in a dynamic environment during non-standard hours is also required.
