Leidos is actively interviewing for a Political and Diplomatic Analyst (POLAD) to join our team in Manama, Bahrain.

The POLAD shall provide the Commanding General (CG) and Staff of 5th MEB analysis of political and diplomatic developments occurring within the Central Command’s Area of Responsibility (USCENTCOM AOR) and of policy developments within the US Government (USG) which might impact operational objectives of the Command.  The POLAD shall demonstrate experience with the methods and processes which govern the U.S. State Department’s diplomatic domain in order to draw on diplomatic, intelligence, and open source reporting, as well possess the historical, political, economic, and policy expertise to provide briefings and information to the CG and staff.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) guidance and recommendations

Develop assessments, briefs, and information papers

Accompany/advise the CG during Key Leader Engagements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Active SECRET clearance

Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience providing foreign policy expertise and advice to senior, strategic level military leaders on politico-military matters, international affairs, and security cooperation

Former DoS Foreign Service Officer, DoD Foreign/Regional Area Officer, or Defense Attaché experience

Prior experience working in CENTCOM AOR (Levant, Arabian Peninsula, Central Asian States)

Working knowledge of the complex interrelationships between Middle Eastern states, religions, and ethnic groups

Working knowledge of regional US Embassies, SDO/DATT, and USLO structures

Willingness and ability to take direction from and work through MARCENT POLAD, coordinating plans, activities, and communications

Knowledge of, and ability to align efforts in consonance with current DoS policies

Established interpersonal relationships with key DoS staff.

Ability to process information, write, and create briefing products for a general officer-level audience

Ability to interact with Colonels and Lieutenant Colonels at a peer level in order to advise and assist them with daily staff functions; and ability and comfort to brief at the executive level (3-4 star)

Current US Passport and ability to execute frequent travel throughout the Middle East and to CONUS with 48-hour notice

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active TS/CSI clearance

Master’s Degree (Foreign Policy/Affairs) or 20 years of relevant experience

Long established interpersonal relationships with regional national government diplomatic leaders and staff members developed through face-to-face engagements

Conversational Arabic a plus
