The Deputy Laboratory Manager position will be with the Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) supporting NASA’s Human Systems Engineering Department at JSC, within the Space Food Systems Laboratory. The Deputy Laboratory Manager will assist with laboratory facility management and provide back-up support to the International Space Station Food Systems subtask lead.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, coordination of facility maintenance with JSC assigned facility manager, coordination of safety documentation and reporting, budget analysis, materials purchasing, and participation in tours or other public education activities, as required.
The Deputy Laboratory Manager will
- Assist the contractor laboratory manager with the following tasks:
- Coordinate/schedule facility maintenance and utility outages with JSC assigned facility manager
- Safety walk-throughs
- Liaison with the KBR Quality Management System Office for:
- internal/external audits
- job hazard analyses
- documentation and recordkeeping
- Assist the ISS Food System subtask lead with the following tasks:
- Monthly budget analysis
- Materials purchase oversight
- Weekly reporting
- Additional tasks as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Occupational Health, or a related science or engineering field, with demonstrated experience in laboratory management.
This position requires successful completion of a government background check to access government facilities and/or systems. Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.
