Job Description:

Reinvent your career with Leidos. The Defense Group is seeking a Logistics Manager in our Sierra Vista, AZ location. The Logistics Manager ensures that equipment, products and systems are received, recorded, packed, distributed, tracked and disposed of according to proper government regulations and procedures.

The Logi maintains awareness of best industry practices, emerging new technologies, methods, and processes. Advises non-logistics managers of best technologies, methods and processes for the effective and efficient logistical management of property assigned to the various parts of the program. Ensures that government furnished equipment (GFE) and/or materials temporarily under the control of contractors are accounted for at all times.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Requires a Bachelors Degree and 2 years of relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
    • Must possess minimum of an adjudicated DoD Secret DoD clearance in order to be considered for employment.
    • Professional Logistics Certification – i.e., Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certified in Lifecycle [Acquisition] Logistics Level 1, or have equivalent logistics training (resume to specify all equivalent training), or possess an additional two (2) years working in direct support of defense life-cycle logistics.
    • Demonstrated skills, to include: Analyzing Engineering/Systems Management Data, Developing Logistics Plans and Procedures, and Developing Logistics Management Plans and Guidelines. 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • The candidate must be able to formally present materials in understandable and intelligible formats; in both verbal and written arrangements.

    • The candidate must be fully proficient in the use of PC’s and all programs included in the Microsoft Office application suite.

    • Military and/or national intelligence background with a clear understanding of the military structure, mission and responsibilities.
    • Prior experience in Afghanistan, Iraq or similar surroundings a plus.
    • Six (6) years of experience in defense life-cycle (acquisition) logistics support (or 8 years if not DAWIA Level 1 certified) of electronic systems, to include: logistics management, principles, practices, and processes. 
    • Four (4) years of experience in support of C4ISR systems.
    • Close, careful, and scrupulous attention to detail under tight deadline constraints is essential.
    • The ability to juggle multiple concurrent assignments and to shift priorities rapidly is also vital.
    • The position requires that the candidate be able to work directly with customers, peers, and other stakeholders. An engaged, proactive approach is expected.

    Primary Responsibilities

    •  Assists team in transfer of GFE and maintenance of records
    • Establish a Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) plant number and maintains procedures for marking, handling, storage, preservation, packaging, and shipping to protect the quality of products and prevent damage, loss, deterioration, degradation, or substitution of products
    • Supports refreshing hardware that has reached end-of-life
    • Maintains and upgrades COTS software licenses as required by information assurance mandates, licensing agreements, or interoperability concerns
    • Procures COTS hardware with embedded software, software licenses, maintenance agreements, or any combination of these items
    • Enters all hardware, software license, and maintenance agreements that are purchased into a tracking system
    • Coordinates release of equipment with proper authorization from a designated POC
    • Ensures security and 100 % property accountability of equipment
    • Handles international shipments that fall under US Customs Regulations in accordance with the basic contract
    • Coordinates all shipping with the Government for any special packaging for select systems
    • Coordinates with field Logistician in Afghanistan and M-FSEs for the movement of items between the field support locations and OEM and Depot locations or other locations identified by the Government
    • Ensures all customs documentation, declarations, (verification) necessary for equipment shipments are properly completed and submitted
    • Provides up-to-date status of all shipping / transportation actions to and from Contractor facilities under the task order
    • Coordinates and tracks performance of packaging and return of non-mission capable systems and Depot Level Repairables (DLRs) to Depot Maintenance Activities
    • Receives repaired systems and ships to outlying sites or stores these devices as necessary
    • Reports observed shortages, overages, incorrect items received, lost shipments, damaged items received, improper preservation, improper packaging, and / or improper marking for receipted shipments on Standard Form (SF) 364, Report of Discrepancy (ROD)
    • Ensures all packaging is properly marked, and that all security classification guidance for marking and handling in accordance with AR 380-5, and the applicable SCG
    • Properly marks, stores, handles, and ships all material acquired, generated or created in accordance with AR 380-5, and the applicable SCG
    • Performs physical inventories of all GFE equipment. Coordinates shipping/receiving of equipment with CONUS and OCONUS managers. Coordinates the shipping and return of broken-down GFE covered under manufacturer warranty or other repair commitment to and from repair / replacement locations.
    • Maintains ability to generate reports on status of equipment to include location, repair status, shipping schedule, distribution, disposition, and other logistical-related functions. Investigates best courses of action for the resolution of logistical problems, and advises these both verbally and in writing to program managers when called upon to do so.
    • Provides advice and training where necessary to other program staff on logistical or property management responsibilities. 
    • Works with Leidos buyers and CHESS vendors to procure items for the government.
