The Airborne Sensors & Analytics division, within the Defense group has a dynamic opportunity for a Deputy Chief Engineer, located in Manassas, VA, in support of the Airborne Reconnaissance Low – Enhanced (ARL-E) program. ARL-E is a multi-year program supporting the U.S. Army with upgrading and enhancing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of their airborne reconnaissance fleet. The ARL-E team is geographically separated with primary duty locations of Aberdeen, MD and Manassas, VA. As the Deputy Chief Engineer, you will use disciplined development approaches to deliver and sustain ARL-E baselines and revisions. As a technical leader of a multi-disciplined team, you will develop and update program hardware, software and processes; manage IPT and subcontractor development efforts; integrate new/updated COTS/GOTS into the baseline; support Engineering Change Proposals; perform system checkout and support the Test & Evaluation team throughout contractor testing and system fielding. You will participate in the full lifecycle of the program assisting the Chief Engineer, IPT Leads, and Program Management team on the program to ensure the on-time delivery of engineering efforts that meet program performance requirements.
-Develop system release schedules which meet program objectives and present those schedules to leadership and the customer
-Effectively lead a geographically dispersed multi-discipline team to achieve the program schedule and all deliverable requirements
-Coordinate with the IPT and subcontractor teams to effectively build and deploy new system baselines and revisions
-Interface with Government customers, support contractors, and team mates
-Plan, manage, and enforce ARL-E hardware, software, and process baseline standards
-Create and maintain documentation associated with support activities
-Provide support metrics and reporting to leadership
-Maintain performance of subsystem, as systems are tested and checkouts completed
-Troubleshooting to isolate system faults, and perform repairs
-Assist leadership with planning schedules and ensuring proper personnel coverage for support activities
-Support the engineering team in the design, integration, and security posture of products; COTS, GOTS, Leidos Developed
-Support design, development, integration, testing, and operational fielding of ARL-E to multiple aircraft and locations
-Manage and deploy annual and out of cycle baseline updates
-Develop engineering design and test plans to meet all system requirements
-Develop and maintain engineering documentation and diagrams
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
-Requires a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
-A current DoD TOP SECRET clearance to start. However, the ability to obtain and maintain a final Top Secret/SCI DoD level of clearance is required.
-Possess strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
-Knowledge and experience with lifecycle development of large system integration programs.
-Must have the ability to identify innovative solutions to extremely complex, multi-faceted technical problems
-A minimum of 25% travel may be required to support activities at each of the primary duty location as well as CONUS test ranges.
-Top Secret/SCI DoD level of clearance
-Experience with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies
-Previous Airborne ISR experience
-Leadership roles on previous system, hardware, or software integration programs
-Experience with Earned Value Management or Project Management
